Back when I realized I wanted to write picture books I initially stared off writing in rhymes. I quickly realized that rhyming is hard work and it’s a good idea to get a sense of what agents think are “good” rhyming books. This was one of the first books I distinctly remember hearing of as a well-done rhyme (I think this was in a Writer’s Digest Webinar). It took me a while to find a copy but I can finally agree – very well done.

When OH NO!

When OH NO!

So obviously this is a cute play on words – instead of “Rex” we get “Wrecks”. Genius!

The bright colors and cute graphics make this a visually appealing book – my toddler loves it.

And not to worry – in case you weren’t a paleontologist-in-training as a child, like me (seriously, I went to summer camp at the Natural History Museum and dug up fossils) the front and back inside covers give you a guide on how to pronounce the names!

This is a great book – highly recommend!
